Sleep & CPAP Report — 2026-10-06
🚩 Flags
- 🟢 Yesterday's AHI=5.20 outlier did not persist — tonight was a clean recovery night across every channel. AHI 1.85 (rank 17/26; 30d z = -0.29, -11.9% vs 30d mean of 2.10). OA count 8 (vs yesterday's 21, -61.9%; rank 14/26, z = -0.35); H count 4 (vs 11, -63.6%; rank 9/26, z = +0.30); CA 0 (unchanged); RERA 1 (vs 4). Nothing in tonight's data suggests the 10-05 breakthrough was the start of a trend.
- 🟢 Sleep architecture confirms the recovery read — this was the user's best night in the recent window on fragmentation. Awake 4.01 min (rank 2/27 lowest-awake in the 26d window; 30d z = -0.93, -58.6% vs 30d mean of 9.70). Sleep efficiency 98.96%. REM 27.14% / 103.4 min (z = +0.42, +10.3% vs 30d). Deep 12.12% / 46.2 min (z = -0.33, -13.5% vs 30d — slightly on the low side but within normal range). Despite yesterday's 32 frank apnea/hypopnea events, the body consolidated sleep tonight: 380.9 min total sleep, almost no awakenings.
- 🟢 Pressure dropped back toward the user's recent operating range. Pressure_90 10.24 cm H₂O (vs yesterday's 12.36, -17.2%; rank 12/26, z = +0.21 — on 30d trend). Pressure_Avg 7.19 (-0.74 vs 30d avg of 7.53, z = -0.77); Pressure_Max 12.14 (vs yesterday's 13.98). The auto-titrator stopped pushing. This is strong evidence the 10-05 event was a one-off, not the start of a trend.
- 🟡 Leak_Max 30.0 L/min — notable single-night spike (rank 4/26, z = +1.23 vs 30d mean of 20.16). But Leak_Avg (1.04, z ≈ +0.02) and Leak_90th (1.2, z = -0.65) stayed near baseline, so the max is a brief transient, not sustained mask drift. Three of the last ten nights have had Leak_Max ≥ 25 (10-02, 10-04, 10-06, plus 10-05 at 22.8 and 09-28 at 34.8 slightly outside this window) — brief leak transients are a running pattern worth noting, though none have translated into elevated 90th-percentile leak on the same night, and none disrupted stage architecture tonight.
- 🟡 Flow-limitation subthreshold minutes stepped back from yesterday's spike. Min_Above_020 4.6 min (vs yesterday's 8.2, -43.9%; rank 7/26, z = +0.44 — modestly elevated but much tamer); Min_Above_010 15.1 (z = -0.31); FL_P95 0.08 (z = -0.77 — below baseline). Frac_NonZero 22.08% (up from 16.39% yesterday — a few more non-zero FL samples but at lower severity).
- 🟡 Trailing 7d AHI avg climbed to 2.09 (+11.1% WoW), driven entirely by the 10-05 night. Without 10-05, the 7d avg would be ~1.53. The ~5-week improving event-count trend remains intact in character; the weekly number only shifted because of a single outlier. If the next 2–3 nights also stay below AHI 3, the 10-05 event is best treated as a one-off.

Bucket comparison (Leak_90 median split, median = 2.4):
- Low-leak nights (n=61): mean deep% 15.53, awake 14.18 min
- High-leak nights (n=37): mean deep% 13.32, awake 11.32 min
- Δ (high – low): deep% -2.21 pp, awake -2.86 min
The direction remains consistent with earlier reports: higher 90th-percentile leak is weakly associated with less deep sleep. Effect size is small (~2 percentage points of deep sleep lost on average on high-leak nights) but has been stable across weeks of data.
Caveats
- Yesterday's (2026-10-05) report flagged a single-night AHI breakthrough above 5. Tonight's data is the natural follow-up data point: event counts, pressure, FL metrics, AND sleep architecture all reverted to baseline (fragmentation actually improved to the best awake-minutes night in the recent window). One recovery night is reassuring but not conclusive — if the next 2 nights also stay below AHI 3 with normal architecture, the 10-05 event is best treated as a one-off.
- The Apple Watch export for 2026-10-06 arrived later than the CPAP export (CPAP: Oct 7 morning; Apple Health: Oct 7 15:01). The CPAP-only version of this report was briefly in place earlier today and has been overwritten by this full version. All metrics in this report reflect both data sources.
- Leak_Max 30.0 L/min is a brief transient (90th percentile only 1.2). Three of the last 10 nights (10-02, 10-04, 10-06) had Leak_Max ≥ 25 while 90th leak stayed modest — suggests brief positional/seal shifts rather than sustained drift. None caused measurable fragmentation tonight. Watch rather than act.
- Correlations are directional/small-effect only — single-night deviations often exceed what correlations alone would predict.
- All flagged metrics for tonight remain within clinically safe ranges (AHI < 5, leak within mask spec). Flags mark deviations from the user's own recent baseline and connections to the prior night's outlier, not clinical thresholds.
- Matched-night count is 98 (two more than the previous report — 10-05 and 10-06 both joined the matched set after their Apple Watch exports completed). Early 2026-06 nights (via multi-day roll-up) retain zero-valued pressure/leak channels and remain low-confidence for CPAP metrics prior to ~2026-06-22.
