Notable: the hypopnea WoW acceleration is finally decelerating (+18.8% vs last report's +43.8%). Leak improvement is durable (-36% avg, -55% p90 WoW). But deep sleep is now -4.4 pp WoW — yesterday's recovery night was an isolated peak inside a sustained architecture decline, not the start of a trend reversal.

High- vs low-leak bucket comparison (split at Leak_Avg median = 0.74 L/min):
Tonight sat firmly in the low-leak bucket (Leak_Avg 0.14 << 0.74 median) — near-zero leak, essentially the best-case seal in the dataset. Predicted deep% from the low-leak group is ~15%; actual tonight was 11.44%, a full -3.6 pp below the low-leak expectation. Leak alone doesn't explain tonight's architecture — something else (short total sleep? residual CA activity? day-to-day biology) is holding deep sleep back.
Mechanically an excellent CPAP night — physiologically a mediocre sleep-architecture night. The device numbers are essentially the best set of the recent 10-night window: zero hypopneas, near-zero leak (Leak_Avg 0.14, Leak_90 0), FL exposure at a recent-window low (Min_Above_010 9.7 min), pressure relaxed back down (P_Avg 7.14, P_90 9.30). All the signals the last few reports flagged for concern — hypopnea acceleration, FL persistence, leak elevation, pressure creep — moved the right way tonight. If tonight's CPAP report were what a therapist saw, they'd have nothing to comment on.
Yet deep sleep and REM both dropped back. Deep 11.44% is below both baselines; REM 20.34% is -3.7 pp below the 30d average. Yesterday's 15.10% deep + 29.01% REM recovery was a single-night rebound, not the start of an architecture reversal. The recent 7d Deep% has now dropped to 11.44% — a -4.4 pp shift vs the prior 7d (15.88%). That week-over-week signal is now large enough to call it a durable architecture regime change, not noise. Something has shifted in the underlying sleep quality that CPAP mechanics don't explain.
The CA count matters. Three central apneas in one night is the highest single-night CA of the recent 10-window. 5 of the last 10 nights now have ≥1 CA. Recent 7d CA (1.00) has crept above prior 7d (0.86). Absolute rate is still low (0.5/hour is well below clinically meaningful thresholds), but the pattern is persistent and inching up. Centrals aren't caused by leak or airway narrowing — they're the brain briefly not signaling the diaphragm — so this is a mechanism the CPAP can't touch. Worth noting: tonight had the LOWEST pressure of the recent 10-night window and the HIGHEST CA count. That's an association worth checking (some patients see treatment-emergent CAs when pressure ramps up, but here it's the opposite — CAs up when pressure eased). Sample too small to conclude, but flag it.
Leak resolution is now durable. Two consecutive nights of Leak_Avg < 0.65, tonight essentially zero (Leak_90 = 0). Recent 7d Leak_Avg (0.64) vs prior 7d (0.99) is -36% — a clean improvement that has held for a full week. The 09-07/09-08 elevation now looks like a two-night transient, not a mask-fit failure. This flag is fully de-escalated.
FL story reversed cleanly. After a week of Min_Above_010 running 15–21 min per night with FL_P95 at 0.09–0.11, tonight came in at 9.7 min and 0.07. Pressure eased, FL eased — same direction. If this holds for two more nights, the "airway doing more narrowing work than a month ago" concern from the last five reports can be de-escalated. Single-night reversal isn't enough yet.
Short-sleep asterisk. Total sleep 5h 55m is the shortest of the recent 10-night window, and 25 min below the 30d avg. Total time in bed was only 6h 02m — this looks like a schedule constraint, not a fragmentation issue (awake time 7.0 min is normal). Shorter total sleep tends to compress deep sleep proportionally, so tonight's 11.44% deep is partly a duration effect. But even scaled to absolute minutes, deep = 40.6 min vs a typical 50+ min — still short.
Pressure_Max 12.04 is a new recent high. Even though average pressure was low, the machine briefly pushed to 12+ at some point tonight. Not concerning at this level, but worth noting the range is widening: min 4, max 12.04 → 8 cmH₂O span. The AutoSet is finding it needs more headroom to handle transient events, even when the average doesn't need to be high.
Watch items updated: - Deep-sleep suppression — flag RE-ELEVATED. Yesterday's rebound was a one-night outlier. Recent 7d Deep% now -4.4 pp vs prior 7d (11.44 vs 15.88). This is now a real sustained architecture shift, not a transient. Highest-priority flag going forward. - REM % — flag ELEVATED. 20.34% tonight, below both baselines. Recent 7d REM (22.60) vs prior 7d (24.16) = -1.6 pp. Smaller effect than deep, but same direction. - Hypopnea WoW — flag DE-ESCALATED. Zero hypopneas tonight; WoW slowed from +43.8% to +18.8%. Trend clearly interrupted. - Leak — flag STAYS DE-ESCALATED. Second night below baseline, tonight essentially zero. Durable. - FL exposure — flag SOFTENED. Min_Above_010 9.7 min is a recent-window low; FL_P95 back below 0.10. First clean easing after a week of persistence. Watch two more nights before fully de-escalating. - Pressure — no longer escalating. Pressure_Avg and Pressure_90 both dropped from yesterday's 10-night highs. AutoSet not being driven upward. - CA count — flag ELEVATED. 3 tonight (highest of recent 10). 5 of last 10 nights with ≥1 CA. Small absolute numbers but persistent and now inching up WoW. Keep monitoring. - Short sleep — new watch item. 5h 55m is the shortest of recent 10 nights, partly explains architecture. If this becomes a pattern of shorter time-in-bed, deep sleep will be structurally suppressed.
Subjectively: This might feel like OK-not-great sleep despite the great CPAP numbers. Total 5h 55m is short, deep sleep is below baseline, REM is below baseline. If the user woke up not feeling fully rested this morning, the sleep-architecture side of the picture supports that — and it's NOT a CPAP therapy issue, it's a sleep-duration and sleep-quality issue that the device can't fix. If he woke up feeling fine, then tonight is just a short-but-clean night and no action needed.
