High- vs low-leak bucket comparison (split at Leak_Avg median = 0.79 L/min):
Directional: low-leak nights average 1.5 pp more deep sleep. Tonight sat in the high-leak bucket (Leak_Avg 1.12 > 0.79 median), and deep sleep at 7.85% is -6.1 pp below the high-leak bucket mean — matches yesterday's pattern (also -6.1 pp below the high-leak mean). Leak explains a modest portion; the rest is unexplained by leak alone.
The deep-sleep suppression flagged the last two reports is now a confirmed pattern. With 7.85% tonight, we now have three of the last four nights sub-10% deep (5.35, 8.05, 7.85), and the trailing 30d average (13.47%) is essentially a full standard deviation above what the user is producing right now. This is no longer noise. Whatever changed on 09-05 has largely stayed changed, with only 09-06 as a one-night reversion.
And now REM has joined deep in dropping. For the first time in the recent window, REM came in below 20% (19.22%, -4.7 pp vs 30d). Yesterday's report explicitly called REM the yesterday's watch item that had held up — tonight it didn't. Losing both deep and REM in the same night is meaningful: core sleep at 72.93% means the user spent nearly three-quarters of the night in light stages. Only 6.4% of the night was in the restorative deep phase, and less than a fifth in REM. On paper efficiency is 97.0%, but architecturally this was a poor sleep.
Hypopnea count is telling. Five hypopneas ties the high-water mark of the recent window (also 5 on 09-04 and 09-05). Combined with the continuing +43.8% WoW hypopnea trend and the flow-limit picture, this suggests partial-airway obstruction is now the dominant physiology. AHI 2.25 undersells it because AHI weights hypopneas and apneas equally, but the character of events has shifted.
Leak is not resolving. Leak_Avg 1.12 is +37% above baseline; Leak_90 3.6 is +53% above; two consecutive nights of Leak_90 = 3.6. The 09-06 near-zero reading (0.27) now clearly looks like the outlier, not the trend. If this were a one-off, we'd expect regression to the mean; two nights in a row at this level with matching Leak_90 signals a durable mask-seal issue — cushion wear, headgear tension, or a change in sleeping position. Watch item is elevated: if next night Leak_Avg is still > 0.90, that's three straight days and worth acting on (check cushion age, headgear straps, side/back position).
Flow-limit moderated slightly. Min_Above_010 was 15.0 tonight, down from 21.3 on 09-07. FL_p95 0.09 dropped just below the 0.10 threshold. That's the one thing pointing the right way — but the reason for the improvement may just be the shortened sleep window (5h 58m vs 6h 26m yesterday), which means fewer accumulated FL minutes at any given severity level. Normalized per hour, FL rate isn't much different.
Pressure response. Pressure_Avg 7.38 vs 7.23 yesterday — small nudge up. Pressure_90 9.34 vs 10.40 yesterday — actually dropped, despite AHI rising. The AutoSet did not escalate. Whether that's the right call given rising AHI and persistent leak is worth thinking about; if the pattern continues, a session review at higher pressure floor might be warranted.
Shortest sleep window in the 10-night set. 5h 58m of total sleep is unusually short — 20+ min below the 7d avg and 30d avg. Time in bed 6h 09m (started 22:52, ended 05:14). If the shortened window is the underlying cause of the low deep+REM night, then the "architecture pattern" flag may be partially explained by insufficient time. That said, deep sleep is early-night dominant and shouldn't get cut off first by an early wake — so a shortened window is likely a contributing factor, not the whole story.
Watch items updated: - Deep-sleep suppression — flag escalated from "watch" to "confirmed pattern." Three of last four nights below baseline is what yesterday defined as the trigger threshold. Action item: if 09-09 also comes in below 12% deep, we have four of five and this is a durable regime change worth troubleshooting concretely (sleep hygiene, pillow/position, allergen exposure, alcohol). - REM % — newly flagged. 19.22% is the first sub-20% REM night in the recent window; if 09-09 also comes in below 22%, that's a two-night confirmation. - Leak — flag elevated to "act soon." Two consecutive nights with Leak_90 = 3.6 and Leak_Avg above baseline. Third night at this level = mechanical intervention needed (cushion inspection, headgear check). - Hypopnea trend — persistent. 5 tonight, WoW +43.8%. Partial-obstruction physiology is now the dominant event type. - CA count. Broke the streak tonight (0 CA). Still 4 of last 9 nights with ≥ 1 CA. Continue monitoring. - FL exposure — mildly better tonight (15.0 min vs 21.3 yesterday), but partially a function of shorter sleep. FL_p95 dropped below 0.10.
Subjectively: If the user feels flat or unrested this morning, the architecture explains it — sub-8% deep and sub-20% REM together, on a 5h 58m sleep, is exactly the profile that produces a "slept but didn't recover" morning. Yesterday's caution about efficiency masking a poor sleep applies double tonight.
