High- vs low-leak bucket comparison (split at Leak_Avg median = 0.77 L/min):

Directional: low-leak nights average 0.9 pp more deep sleep. Tonight sat just above the low/high split (Leak_Avg 0.79, essentially at the median) — so leak physics doesn't explain the deep-sleep collapse. Deep sleep at 5.35% is 9.87 pp below the low-leak bucket mean and 8.95 pp below the high-leak bucket mean; this is not a leak-driven pattern.

Interpretation

The story tonight is deep sleep, not events. Deep sleep came in at 5.35% — roughly one-third of the user's 30-day baseline (13.91%) and less than a third of the recent 7-day average (16.79%). In absolute terms, only ~19 minutes of N3 across a 5h 56m sleep window. That's the lowest deep-sleep share in the recent 10-night window by a wide margin: the next-lowest was 08-30 at 9.23%, and every other night in the window sat between 11% and 20.5%. REM came in normal-to-slightly-elevated at 25.35% (30d 24.17%), which suggests it isn't a total-sleep-time squeeze — REM held while deep dropped out. The Apple Watch attributed the balance to core (N1+N2) at 69.29%, well above the 30d ~62% typical share, consistent with an unusually shallow night.

AHI is elevated but not clinically alarming. 2.66 sits below the personal mean+1sd threshold (3.21) but above the 30d mean by +41%. Event mix was mostly obstructive (11 OA / 5 H / 1 CA / 1 RERA). Pressure_Avg 7.59 is right on the 30d baseline; the device is not chasing runaway events. Flow-limit exposure was moderate (19.8 min above FL 0.10, 7.4 min above 0.20) — higher than 09-04's 11.4 / 2.4 and comparable to 09-03's 17.1 / 2.9, so there was more sustained upstream airway restriction tonight than 09-04, even though AHI was lower.

Is the deep-sleep drop event-driven? The correlation between AHI and deep sleep across 64 matched nights is essentially zero (r = +0.12), so as a rule these don't move together. Yet the last two nights are both above baseline AHI and off their normal deep-sleep pattern (09-04 deep 14.66% below 7d 16.79%; 09-05 deep 5.35% way below). Two data points don't make a mechanism, but the combination — climbing OA counts, elevated flow-limit exposure, and a deep-sleep drop — is worth watching. It's possible tonight involved an obstructive-event cluster in the middle of the night that fragmented slow-wave sleep without triggering a full awakening (awake time was 13.5 min — up vs the 7d avg but not extreme).

Leak took a step back to baseline. Tonight's Leak_Avg 0.79 and Leak_90th 2.4 are essentially on the 30d baseline (0.84 / 2.48). The 09-03 spike and its aftermath appear to be behind him. But the week-over-week leak numbers are still drifting up — 7d Leak_Avg 0.98 vs prior 7d 0.69 (+43%), and 7d Leak_90th 3.26 vs 1.89 (+73%) — driven by 09-03 and 08-30. Watch whether this normalizes back over the next 3–4 nights.

Watch items rolling forward: - Deep-sleep percentage. If tomorrow comes in below ~10%, this is a two-night pattern worth flagging harder. Anything ≥ 12% and it's likely a one-off. - AHI streak. This is now 4 of 5 nights at AHI ≥ 1.82. If tomorrow lands ≥ 3.21, that's the third night at/above the personal elevated threshold within the recent window. - Flow-limit exposure creeping up (19.8 min above FL 0.10 tonight vs a typical single-digit) — an upstream airway signal the device may not be fully catching. - Leak week-over-week drift.

Subjectively: Only 5.35% deep sleep and 13.5 min awake with sleep efficiency at 96.3% — this probably felt less restorative than the last few nights. Total sleep of 5h 56m is 21 min under the 7d average and ~26 min under the 30d, so the sleep window itself was shorter as well.
