2. 8-Night Trend & Leak Context

Leak vs. sleep architecture — 45 matched nights (all available history through 08-05)

Split at leak ≤ 0.30 vs > 0.30 L/min (08-05's leak of 1.90 falls into the higher-leak bucket):

the user r (leak avg vs. deep %): −0.25 (n=45). the user r (leak avg vs. awake min): −0.01. the user r (AHI vs. awake min): +0.04. the user r (AHI vs. deep %): +0.04.

Interpretation: Tonight falls solidly in the higher-leak bucket, and its deep% (11.3%) is below that bucket's mean (14.8%) too — consistent with, though not strongly explained by, the leak↔deep% relationship (r = −0.25). Notably, tonight's high leak did not coincide with elevated awake time (10.5 min, well under both bucket means) or elevated AHI (1.49) — a reminder that across the full dataset, leak and AHI have only weak/negligible linear relationships with sleep-stage disruption (r ≈ 0.04 for AHI vs. both awake and deep%). Tonight looks like an isolated leak event that didn't cascade into worse sleep architecture or more respiratory events.

3. Comparison to Trailing Averages

Metric Tonight (08-05) 7-day avg (07-30–08-05) 30-day avg (through 08-05)
AHI 1.49 1.74 2.08
Leak avg (L/min) 1.90 0.70 0.61
Pressure avg (cmH₂O) 7.97 7.03 7.85
Usage hours 6.72 7.12 6.74
Deep sleep % 11.3% 12.6% 15.83%
REM sleep % 23.3% 23.2% 24.48%
Awake time (min) 10.5 24.7 18.5

Leak is the clear outlier tonight — well above both trailing averages while every other metric (AHI, awake time, usage, pressure) is unremarkable or favorable. Deep sleep is still modestly below both averages, continuing the pattern noted above.

Weekly AHI/Leak trend

Week AHI avg Leak avg n
06-17 to 06-23 1.32 0.36 4
06-24 to 06-30 3.74 1.99 7
07-01 to 07-07 2.92 1.27 6
07-08 to 07-14 2.78 0.52 7
07-15 to 07-21 1.66 0.45 6
07-22 to 07-28 1.68 0.87 7
07-29 to 08-04 1.74 0.70 7
08-05 to 08-11 (partial, 1 of 7) 1.49 1.90 1

Too early to read a trend into the new week (n=1) — but a leak avg of 1.90 as the week's opening night is worth checking against the next few nights to see if it's a one-off or the start of a new leak cluster like late June's.

4. Outlook

The AHI trend that was the headline flag last night has reversed — tonight's 1.49 is back to normal range and below both trailing averages, breaking the 4-night climb. In its place, tonight's story is an isolated leak spike (1.90 L/min, 6th-highest of 45 nights) that didn't translate into worse AHI, awake time, or a further hit to deep sleep beyond its already-depressed recent baseline. Nothing here crosses a clinically concerning threshold on its own. The one pattern still worth tracking independent of tonight is deep sleep running below its own historical average for 6 of the last 7 nights — not dramatic on any single night, but a longer stretch than the AHI or leak blips, and worth a look if it continues into next week.
