Leak vs. sleep architecture — 37 matched nights (all available history)

Split at leak ≤ 0.30 vs. > 0.30 L/min (07-28's leak of 0.77 falls into the higher-leak bucket):

the user r (leak avg vs. deep %): −0.33 (n=37). the user r (leak avg vs. awake min): +0.15. the user r (AHI vs. awake min): +0.22. the user r (AHI vs. deep %): −0.02.

Interpretation: Same picture as recent reports — leak has a moderate negative association with deep sleep (higher-leak nights average ~3 points lower deep %), while leak/AHI's relationship with awake time remains weak (|r| ≤ 0.22). Tonight fits the weak-correlation pattern rather than contradicting it: a moderate-leak, moderately-elevated-AHI night still produced a low awake-time reading, continuing the pattern seen on 07-27.

3. Comparison to Trailing Averages

Metric Tonight (07-28) 7-day avg (07-22–07-28) Prior 7-day avg (07-21–07-27) 30-day avg (06-29–07-28)
AHI 2.01 1.68 1.52 2.44
Leak avg (L/min) 0.77 0.87 0.88 0.85
Pressure avg (cmH₂O) 6.77 7.41 7.42 8.26
Usage hours 6.97 6.76 6.75 6.59
Deep sleep % 17.8% 16.3% 17.83% 16.8%
REM sleep % 26.4% 26.69% 26.47% 24.48%
Awake time (min) 11.5 17.4 19.6 15.9

AHI is above both trailing 7-day windows but comfortably below the 30-day average — consistent with a modest uptick rather than a new baseline. Pressure continues to run below both trailing windows for a second night. Awake time remains a bright spot: well under all three comparison windows, extending the post-07-25/26 recovery.

Weekly AHI/Leak trend

Week AHI avg Leak avg n
06-22 to 06-28 2.84 1.98 7
06-29 to 07-05 3.60 1.49 6*
07-06 to 07-12 3.00 0.43 7
07-13 to 07-19 2.13 0.45 6*
07-21 to 07-27 (prior trailing 7d) 1.52 0.88 7
07-22 to 07-28 (current trailing 7d) 1.68 0.87 7

* n=6 because one night in that week (07-03 and 07-17 respectively) has no matched Apple Watch sleep session — see caveats. This differs slightly from the night counts implied in earlier reports; treat as a recomputation artifact, not a data change.

Trailing 7-day AHI rose slightly (1.52 → 1.68) as 07-21's low reading (0.88) aged out and tonight's 2.01 aged in — still well below the 06-22–07-19 range (2.13–3.60). Leak trend is essentially flat (0.88 → 0.87).

4. Outlook

Awake time and efficiency continue to look strong for a second straight night (11.5 min / 97.2%, after 07-27's 5.5 min / 98.5%), reinforcing that the 07-25/07-26 disruption was a short-lived event rather than an emerging pattern. This holds even with AHI ticking up tonight — further evidence that awake time isn't being driven primarily by AHI or leak on a night-to-night basis (consistent with the weak correlations above).

AHI/RERA worth a light watch, not yet a flag: 2.01 AHI and 2 RERA events are the highest readings in over a week. One night isn't a trend, but if AHI keeps climbing over the next few reports, it would be worth cross-checking pressure settings or mask fit.

Pressure: Two consecutive nights of low pressure averages (6.77, 6.87) without any negative effect on AHI or sleep quality — logged for tracking only.
