Leak vs. sleep architecture — 36 matched nights (all available history)

Split at leak ≤ 0.30 vs. > 0.30 L/min (07-27's leak of 1.19 falls well into the higher-leak bucket):

the user r (leak avg vs. deep %): −0.33 (n=36). the user r (leak avg vs. awake min): +0.12. the user r (AHI vs. awake min): +0.20. the user r (AHI vs. deep %): −0.02.

Interpretation: The leak→deep-sleep relationship is the only one with a moderate signal (higher-leak nights average ~3 points lower deep sleep). The leak→awake-time and AHI→awake-time links remain weak (|r| ≤ 0.2) and tonight is a clear outlier within that noisy relationship: a higher-leak night (1.19) paired with the single lowest awake-time reading in the dataset. That's a second consecutive report where the data undercuts a simple "leak/AHI drives awake time" narrative — treat these correlations as weak tendencies, not predictive of any given night.

3. Comparison to Trailing Averages

Metric Tonight (07-27) 7-day avg (07-21–07-27) Prior 7-day avg (07-20–07-26) 30-day avg (06-28–07-27)
AHI 1.6 1.52 1.43 2.45
Leak avg (L/min) 1.19 0.88 0.71 0.82
Pressure avg (cmH₂O) 6.87 7.30 7.46 8.41
Usage hours 6.23 6.65 6.77 6.58
Deep sleep % 18.0% 16.4% 16.4% 16.7%
REM sleep % 21.3% 25.9% 26.4% 24.5%
Awake time (min) 5.5 19.8 21.9 16.5

AHI (1.6) and leak (1.19) both ticked up slightly relative to the trailing windows, but pressure and deep sleep both look good — deep sleep sits above both the 7-day and 30-day averages. Awake time is the standout: roughly a quarter of the trailing 7-day average and a third of the 30-day average — the best night in this metric in the entire dataset.

Weekly AHI/Leak trend

Week AHI avg Leak avg n
06-22 to 06-28 2.84 1.98 7
06-29 to 07-05 3.24 1.41 7
07-06 to 07-12 3.00 0.43 7
07-13 to 07-19 2.22 0.42 7
07-20 to 07-26 (prior trailing 7d) 1.43 0.71 7
07-21 to 07-27 (current trailing 7d) 1.52 0.88 7

The multi-week AHI downtrend flattened out and ticked up slightly (1.43 → 1.52) as 07-20's very low reading (0.94) aged out of the window and tonight's 1.6 aged in — still well below the 06-22–07-19 range of 2.22–3.24. Trailing leak also rose modestly (0.71 → 0.88), driven mainly by tonight's 1.19; five of the seven nights in the current window remain at or below 1.08.

4. Outlook

The awake-time/efficiency question from the last two reports appears resolved, at least for one night: 07-27 posted the best awake-time and efficiency readings in the dataset, even with leak and AHI both modestly elevated relative to trailing averages. This is evidence against CPAP therapy metrics being the main driver of the 07-25/07-26 disruption — supporting the "one-off rough patch" explanation over an ongoing CPAP-linked issue. Worth continuing to watch: if awake time creeps back up over the next few nights without a corresponding leak/AHI signal, that would further support a non-CPAP cause (routine, stress, alcohol, room conditions, etc.).

Leak and pressure: Tonight's higher leak (1.19) and unusually low pressure (6.87) are both single-night readings without an accompanying AHI/OA problem. No action needed unless leak elevation recurs on 07-28.

Deep sleep: Fully recovered from the 07-25 dip (9.9% → 14.3% → 18.0%) and now running above both trailing averages for a second night.
