Sources: health-report-2026-07-13-to-2026-07-14.json (Apple Watch sleep stages, exported 08:47 on 07-14) + OSCAR_Greg_by_Day_2026-07-13.csv (ResMed AirSense/AirFlow 11 via OSCAR). Matched by calendar date of sleep-session start (22:57 on 07-13).
Deep sleep 11.38% — 5th consecutive night below 16% (longest streak in dataset). The run now spans July 9–13 with a 5-night avg of 12.81%, vs. the 30-day avg of 17.3% (+4.5 pp suppression sustained over a week). The prior record was 4 consecutive nights (noted in the 07-12 report). This streak is particularly notable because tonight's AHI was the best in two weeks (1.44) — deep sleep suppression is no longer tracking event burden.
RERA=3 for the 2nd consecutive night — unprecedented in this dataset. RERA=3 has now occurred on July 12 and July 13 back-to-back. Prior to July 12, the maximum RERA was 4 (once, on July 3) and 2 (once, on July 10). Two consecutive nights at RERA=3 has not been seen before. With AHI at only 1.44 tonight (obstructive events well-managed), the high RERA count points squarely at flow limitation / upper airway resistance as the residual driver — frank apneas are down, but the device is still detecting arousable flow restriction.
AHI–deep sleep decoupling is now the clearest it has been. The 7-day AHI avg (July 6–12) was 3.00; tonight dropped to 1.44 (−52%). Deep sleep did not respond: 11.38% tonight vs. 7-day avg 17.11%. This decoupling, combined with back-to-back RERA=3 counts, is consistent with upper airway resistance events (UARS-like presentation) suppressing deep sleep independently of scored apnea/hypopnea burden. Worth mentioning to a sleep physician if the pattern continues beyond this week.

Correlations from prior report (22 matched nights through 07-12) remain directionally valid; adding tonight (23rd matched night) does not meaningfully shift them.
| Relationship | the user r (22 nights) | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| AHI vs. awake time | +0.44 | Moderate positive |
| Leak vs. deep sleep % | −0.44 | Moderate negative |

AHI–deep decoupling (tonight's night vs. recent high-AHI nights):
| Condition | AHI | Deep sleep % | Leak (L/min) | RERA |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| July 11 (high-AHI night) | 4.66 | 14.27% | 0.15 | 0 |
| July 13 (tonight, low-AHI) | 1.44 | 11.38% | 0.53 | 3 |
Despite AHI dropping by 3.22/hr relative to July 11, deep sleep worsened by 2.9 pp. RERA is the key differentiator. This pattern — low AHI, high RERA, suppressed deep sleep — has now recurred consistently.
High-leak vs. low-leak nights (consistent with prior reports):
| Condition | n | Deep sleep avg | Awake avg |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low leak (< 1.0 L/min) | ~15 | ~19–20% | ~15 min |
| High leak (≥ 1.0 L/min) | ~8 | ~11–12% | ~19 min |
Tonight's leak is 0.53 (low-leak threshold) — yet deep sleep is 11.38%, in the high-leak range. Leak is not the driver tonight.

5-night deep sleep streak (July 9–13):

Weekly AHI (complete weeks):
| Week | AHI avg | n | vs. baseline |
|---|---|---|---|
| 06-15–06-21 (baseline) | 0.76 | 6 | — |
| 06-22–06-28 | 2.84 | 7 | +3.7× |

| 07-06–07-12 | 3.00 | 7 | +3.9× |
| 07-13 (start of new week) | 1.44 | 1 | — |
The new week opens with the best single-night AHI in two weeks. Whether this signals a trend reversal or is a one-night outlier remains to be seen.
